Mapusa: Goa government in its order on Thursday notified former sub-jail at Mapusa town in North Goa as a ‘detention centre for the foreigners illegally staying in the State.’
Under Secretary (Home) Neetal Amonkar in an order issued has designated former sub jail at Mapusa to be detention centre for illegal immigrants and foreign nationals awaiting deportation.
State Public Works Department has renovated the Old Jail at Mapusa as detention centre in which State Social Welfare Department has recruited the required manpower.
