Pernem: A 36-year-old Nepali daughter of a mayor from Nepal who went missing from Goa has been traced in a hotel at Chopdem on Wednesday.
Aarti Hamal had gone missing from Osho meditation centre near Mandrem in North Goa, where she had arrived from Nepal, a month back. The management of the centre had filed police complaint with Mandrem police station, a senior police officer said.
The woman was found last seen at Siolim (North Goa) on March 25 and later went missing, police said.
A massive manhunt was launched to trace her across the state, he said adding that the eye witnesses who saw her claimed that she was “very much in the senses” when they saw her last.
Police had also started the search at Osho’s centre at Canacona. “She has been frequently coming to Goa. She had left her phone back in the centre due to which she could not be traced even with the technical surveillance,” he said.
The state police had started physically checking all the hotels in and around Pernem and Mandrem areas of North Goa.
Police said that on Wednesday, Aarti was found in a hotel at Chopdem village along with two other girls, who were her friends. “We are recording her statement,” he said.
The family members of Aarti has arrived in the state.
Her father had posted on social media seeking help from the people to trace his daughter, after she went missing.
