Panaji: Goa police on Wednesday arrested a mother for abandoning her one-and-half month old child near roadside in Margao town of South Goa.
Fatorda police arrested Priyanka Fernandes (27), originally from Chandgad in Maharashtra, who is currently staying with her husband in Margao for dumping her one-and-half year old child.
Police said that they had found the child alogside the wall of a building complex at Borda locality in Margao on Wednesday morning after which they had started investigation to trace the parents of the child.
During the investigation, police came across the accused who has confessed of dumping the new born girl child.
A senior police official said that the child was prematurely born and had health complications due to which the accused wanted to get rid of her.
Police have arrested the accused while child is being treated at South Goa District hospital in Margao.
