Panaji: Speaking on the disparity of salaries being paid to employees at Goa Recruitment and Employment Society and Goa Human Resource Development Corporation, Congress party General Secretary Vijay Bhike said that sought to know why there two different agencies for the same task.

“300 people who work at the Society have not been given a salary hike for last 10 years. Their salary is around Rs 19000 and in hand they get around Rs 10000. They don’t even get their salaries on time, sometimes even after 2 months. But recent recruitments have been done wherein Rs 5000 additional amount is being paid for the same posts at Goa Human Resource Development Corporation. We demand that these 300 people at the Society get a salary hike along with other benefits such as ESI and PF,” he said.
Congress party member John Nazareth said that there should be equal pay for equal work.
“The Chief Minister had given directions in July last year to the authorities concerned stating to issue a notification to bring the salary on par by October last year. But nothing has happened. Also, these workers are being paid below the minimum wages,” he said.
