Margao: Congress candidate Viriato Fernandes is leading with 1695 votes against his nearest rival BJP candidate Pallavi Dempo during the first round of the counting.
As per the information on the Election Commission of India website Fernandes has polled 4336 votes as against 2641 by Dempo, giving him a lead of 1695 votes.
Rubert Pereira of Revolutionary Goans Party has polled 222 votes and stands at the third position.
The initial counting results for North Goa Parliamentary seat are yet to be announced.
