Confidential COVID-19 report leak, Health minister warns of stern action against circulating it

Panaji: Health Minister Vishwajit Rane has warned of action after confidential lab reports from Goa Medical College and Hospital of all the seven COVID-19 positive patients were leaked in social media on Thursday morning.

The tests conducted at Goa Medical College and Hospital virology lab on the samples collected from all the seven patients had come positive on Thursday.

Several social media platforms were seen flashing the picture of the lab reports which had revealed identity of all the seven patients.

Reacting to this, Rane tweeted “Confidential lab reports of GMC and DHS are being currently circulated by many on Whatsapp and social media platforms. This act is violation of patients’ privacy and request you all to not indulge in leaking or sharing any such information.”

“If such act is repeated or continued by aany individual, the Govt is authorities to take stern action against him/her under the provisions of the law. This is breach of law and shall be dealt with serious punishments,” he tweeted.

All the seven patients who were tested positive have been shifted to specially designated COVID-19 hospital, where they will be treated.
