Sawant was speaking after inaugurating Farmer’s Producers Company Limited in North Goa. The company would be a bridge between the farmers and the market.

The Farmers Producers Company Limited is formed under National Association for Farmers Producers Organisation (NAFPO).

Sawant said that the emergence of farmers producers company is a step towards providing benefits to the farmers. “They will not be able to get the benefits, till they have their own company,” he said.

He said that the farmers producers comapanies have lot of benefits which are rolled out by Prime Minister Narendra Modi-led government.

Sawant said that Goa will have at least 12 Farmers Producers Companies across the state. “NABARD and State Agriculture Department has taken up the initiative to start these companies in all the talukas,” he said.

Sawant said that the farmers should be aware about the schemes and also should get the right value for his produce.
