Panaji: A few Congress workers sustained minor injuries during a protest in Panaji on Tuesday night after police used a fire extinguisher to douse flames from a burning effigy, party workers claimed.
According to Congress workers present at the protest, police sprayed the fire extinguisher on the burning effigy without prior intimation, resulting in the spray hitting some of the protesters.
The workers claimed that the extinguisher spray got into their eyes, following which a fracas broke out between Congress leaders and police personnel at the protest site.
The Congress workers alleged that the use of the fire extinguisher led to minor injuries to some of them.
