Panaji: A day after differences emerged between the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) and the Goa Forward Party (GFP), partners in the “Goa First” alliance, the Congress on Wednesday said its doors were open to like-minded political parties.

“We have always said that our doors are open for the other like-minded political parties to have the alliance (for Goa polls),” AICC Goa Desk incharge Manikrao Thakare, said addressing a public meeting at Nuvem Assembly constituency in South Goa on Wednesday. He was speaking during ongoing Goy Rakhonn Yatra (Save Goa Campaign).

He said that it is the sentiment of the people of Goa that the like-minded parties should come together. “We are open for the alliance with all those like-minded parties,” Thakare said.

Congress has already announced its alliance with Revolutionary Goans Party. Another regional party — Goa Forward Party — had announced its alliance with AAP under the banner “Goa First.”

The rift was visible in the Goa First alliance after GFP President Vijai Sardesai on Tuesday said that there should be grand opposition alliance, including that of Congress.

Goa First had claimed that their alliance was non-BJP and non-Congress.

The GFP had also pulled down their hoardings on the highway which were put up while announcing tie up with the AAP for upcoming Goa polls.
