Porvorim: Chief Minister Pramod Sawant proved that he is enjoying majority support on the floor of the House during the session called on Wednesday.
In all 20 MLAs voted in favour of the motion of confidence on Sawant while 15 were in opposition. The special session was summoned by Govenor Mridula Sinha to conduct floor test after Sawant was sworn in as Chief Minister during wee hours of Tuesday.
Besides 11 members from BJP, three each from Goa Forward Party, MGP and Independents supported Sawant during the head count conducted on the floor of the House.
The Assembly was presided over by Deputy Speaker Michael Lobo.
Total 14 MLAs from Congress and one from NCP stood up against the motion.
