Margao: NDA ally, Goa Forward Party’s Women wing chief Ashma Sayed on Wednesday resigned from the post of Vice Chairman of State Minorities Finance and Development Corporation as a mark of protest against Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA).

GFP is an ally of NDA, which shared power with BJP-led government in the State till July, 2019, when its members were dropped from Pramod Sawant-led cabinet.

Announcing her decision to quit the coveted post, Sayed attributed her decision to passage of CAA in the Parliament.

“I have resigned as Vice Chairman, Goa State Minorities Finance and Development Corporation as mark of protest against #CAA,” she tweeted.

GFP has been against the passage of CAA with its chief Vijai Sardesai participating in the protests held in Margao town of South Goa, last month
