Panaji: Claiming that Goa Chief Minister Pramod Sawant has failed to address crucial issues of the State, Congress party demanded his resignation with immediate effect.

Congress said that  State government has been insensitive towards the issues raised by them being principal opposition party due to which there is largescale discontent amongst the people.

Addressing a press conference, Goa Pradesh Congress Committee President Girish Chodankar said that it is unfortunate that CM and government is insensitive towards the issues raised by Congress party.

“They have become insensitive. Even if you raise sensitive issues, they are not addressed to. We condemn the inaction of the government. People are unhappy with the government,” the Congress leader said.

“If chief minister Pramod Sawant cannot handle the affairs of the state, then he should step down from the post without wasting any more time,” he said.

The government is accountable to the people in the democratic set up, and hence, State government has to be responding to the issues raised by main opposition party.

Chodankar said that they have highlighted issues including that of Financial situation of the State for which there was no reaction from the chief minister.

He pointed out that state government has failed to give proper response on the issue of mining industry, which has been facing problems since the year 2012.

The Congress leader said that State is reeling under unprecedented unemployment which is highest in the country.

“The frustration is mounting amongst the youth, who are resorting to taking law and order in their hand,” he claimed.

Chodankar said that the tourism industry is going through slowdown, for which, no steps are taken to ensure to get it back on the track.
