Panaji: All India Mahila Congress Committee on Friday appointed Beena Shantaram Naik as incharge of its Goa unit chief.
Party sources stated that the new appointment comes in the wake of Pratima Coutinho, who hitherto headed the State unit of Mahila Congress, resigned from the post.
AIMCC President Sushmita Dev has appointed Beena Shantaram Naik as incharge President of Goa Pradesh Mahila Congress on Friday.
While Coutinho was not available for comments, party sources stated that the decision to appoint Naik on the post was taken to ensure that it is not left vacant.
Coutinho had recently contested by election for Navelim Zilla Panchayat where she had lost to an Independent candidate. The Mahila Congress leader had accused her own partymen for the defeat.
