Panaji:  For the second day, Congress legislators continued disrupting the assembly over fish issue.

The session which began yesterday was a complete washout after Speaker had to adjourn it five times due to the ruckus created by Congress legislators pressing for  the Adjournment motion.

Leader of Opposition Chandrakant Kavlekar demanded that their Adjournment Motion, which was not allowed yesterday, be taken up for discussion today.

Speaker Pramod Sawant said that the opposition benches have not moved any fresh motion, hence the business of the House will continue. He also told the Congress legislators that the issue would be discussed on Monday through Calling Attention motion during which Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar would give elaborate reply.

The Opposition benches, however, refused to listen to the Speaker and continued creating pandemonium on the floor of the House.

Kavlekar said that the Adjournment Motion which was moved yesterday be allowed today as the issue is of public importance. “This is not about your or my health only. It is about the health of lakhs of people in the state,” he said referring to the issue of formalin being found in the fish.

Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar who had got up to answer for the Question Hour told the Opposition benches that he would reply in detail on Monday.

As the Congress legislators continued creating noise, the Speaker adjourned the House till 2.30 p.m.

Talking to reporters outside the assembly hall, Parrikar termed entire stunt of the opposition as ‘drama.’

“ There was no adjournment motion moved today. I checked it up with the speaker. This noise was for cheap publicity. It is nothing but a drama,” he said.

The chief minister said that as far as fish is concerned, government has banned the import of it in the State. “We have even sent back few trucks from the border,” he added.
