Panaji: Spearheading an attempt to cobble the opposition alliance in the coastal state ahead of the 2027 polls, Goa Forward Party (GFP) has said that the Congress should take a decision on the alliance without delay.
GFP President Vijai Sardesai said the Congress should finalise the alliance before the upcoming Zilla Panchayat elections in the state, which are scheduled to be held later this year.
Sardesai added that the delay in deciding on the alliance with like-minded opposition parties should not happen for the 2027 polls.
The GFP on Sunday had created a surprise when opposition party leaders, including Leader of Opposition Yuri Alemao, Congress MLA Altone D’Costa, Sardesai (GFP MLA), and Revolutionary Goans Party President Manoj Parab, shared a stage on the eve of Diwali.
All the leaders hinted at a possible alliance ahead of the 2027 polls in Goa.
Sardesai also said that the political parties part of the alliance should announce their candidates in advance so that those unhappy with the decision can leave the party early, rather than waiting until the last minute.
All opposition political parties, except the Aam Aadmi Party, have hinted at coming together for the 2027 elections in Goa.
