Aam Aadmi Party after launching its campaign ‘Goans against Corona’ is getting into action mode. Today, they have conducted the safety and best practices training of first batch of 50 Oximtras in Taleigao. They are armed with Oximeters and are ready to hit the ground and conduct door to door checkup of oxygen saturation level under the ‘Goans against Corona initiative. Volunteers were trained on safest methods of using oximeter for correct reading and how to perform the checkup by maintaining social distancing . The training was done through a live demonstration in a step wise approach which included:
– Sanitising own hands and then wearing protective gloves.
– Wearing face mask
– Sanitising the Oximeter before usage in front of the person
– sanitising hands of the person before doing checkup.
The volunteers were enthusiastic about the activity, one of the volunteer from Thivim said “I am happy to help in this activity as it will help fellow Goans, there is a lot of fear and misconception among common people with respect to Corona, this activity will help build confidence in them that they are not alone in this fight”
“These Oximitras are the strongest pillar of Goans against Corona initiative, this initiative is by the people of Goa and for the people of Goa. I wish all the very best to each of the Oximitras, I salute their courage and commitment, standing for your own people in the times of distress is no less than an act of bravery”. said Rahul Mhambre of AAP who is in-charge of the Goans against Corona Campaign.
“We are expecting more volunteers to join us for the training in few days, it is expected to have at least 400 oximitras on ground soon “ said Elvis Gomes, AAP Goa state convener.
