89 per cent pass HSSC, girls outsmart boys

Panaji: Around 89 per cent of the students who had appeared for the Higher Secondary School Certificate (HSSC) examination passed as per the results that were announced on Friday.

Goa Board of Secondary and Higher Secondary Chairman Ramakrishna Samant said that 89.27 per cent of the students who had appeared for the HSSC examination have passed.

He said that 87.43 per cent boys and 90.94 per cent of girls, who had appeared for the HSSC examination, had passed.

In all, 17,183 students had appeared for the HSSC examination of which 15,339 passed.

The results were announced on Friday by the board.

Samant said that 85.30 per cent of the students who had appeared in Arts stream, 92.82 per cent in Commerce, 88.96 per cent in Science and 88.91 per cent in Vocational stream passed the examination.

The Chairman said that 0.81 per cent of the students passed their examination with the help of Sports merit marks.
