Panaji: Goa has repatriated more than 2,000 Goan people working on the ships back to the state after COVID-19 outbreak, a senior official said.
State NRI Commissioner Narendra Sawaikar said that till date, 2,304 Goans who were working on the ships and 260 stranded Goans (on the land) from 31 different countries reached.
He said a flight from Dubai under Vande Bharat Mission and eleven chartered flights carrying people working on different ships have landed in Goa after COVID-19 outbreak.
As per Union Ministry of Home Affairs guidelines those arriving from international destinations have to be quarantined for seven days in a hotel after conducting COVID-19 test on them.
Sawaikar said that there are 31 hotels with 1819 rooms which are used as a quarantine facility for these travelers who come from abroad.
