Youth have potential in sports- Gaude

Sports Minister, Shri Govind Gaude asserted that Youths of State have potential to shine in various sports which needs to be motivated and the Sports and Youth Affairs Department will rightly do that, saying that creating only infrastructure will not help to motivate youth in sports but also requires inspiration.

Shri Gaude was speaking after inaugurating a newly developed village playground with gymnasium and other facilities at Malkarnem in Sanguem Assembly constituency in the presence of MLA and Social Welfare Minister, Shri Subhash Phaldessai . The playground is developed at a cost of Rs. 2.93 crores.

Speaking further Shri Gaude said, youth should attain great heights in education for their successful life along with sports and culture which have equal importance. If one shines in any sports he or she can get name and fame not just at state level but throughout the nation.

Youths of rural parts of the State have potential, talent and skill. There is just a need to push, Shri Gaude said and added that Sports and Culture is included in National Education Policy which will benefit the students. One should set a target for success and work hard with determination to achieve that goal, he added.

Education itself cannot take forward one’s life in this competitive world. Specialization in any field is must to shine in this world and Sports is a right field he opined. Youths need to see the dreams in the day and not at night in their sleep, he said and called upon the youths to work hard devotedly to complete that dream.

Shri Subhash Phaldessai said, facilities in sports and education are must in every village. Youths of villages have a lot of talent in sports. Government is serious and concerned about the future of youths from rural parts, he said. Government is committed to creating the requisite infrastructure in every villages but it is the responsibility of every individual to see that maximum benefit is derived from it and due care is taken up of the infrastructure.

Sarpanch, Smt Rajashri Gaonkar, Rivona Zilla Panchayat Member, Shri Suresh Kepekar and Shri Rajesh Gaonkar also spoke on the occasion.

Assistant Director, Sports Authority of Goa, Smt Jenifer Perreira welcomed while Director, Administration, Shri Shankar Gaonkar proposed the vote of thanks. Shri Dattatray Prabhudessai compered.
