Porvorim: While Union Ministry of Home Affairs has opened up all the activities and lifted intra-city movement during lockdown5.0, why has Goa continued imposing section 144 of CrPC, questioned Independent MLA Rohan Khaunte.
In a tweet released here, Khaunte wrote “New MHA guidelines for #Lockdown5 have practically opened up all the intra-city movements, lifted almost all the bans. What is @goacm’s justification to still continue with section 144 in #Goa, which by his definition, is a green zone.”
The independent MLA in the past had accused State government of continuing with the section 144 of CrPC in the state to misuse it against its opponents.
He said that the section was being used to crush the protests by locals against the State government.
The section was initially imposed during Janata Curfew announced by the Prime Minister in March, but it has continued till date, without revoking it.
