Panaji: Health Minister Vishwajit Rane today said that there is no red alert in the State about Nipah virus whose outbreak is reported in Kozhikode district of Kerala.
“I appeal people not to go by fake whatsapp messages which is spreading rumours about the red alert in the State. There is no such alert. There is no need to panic as the outburst is only in one of the district of Kerala,” Rane said today.
He said that in case of any such alert, the guidelines are issued by the centre. “I am in touch with the union health secretary on the situation as far as outbreak of this virus is concerned and centre has also clarified that there is no need for Goa to panic,” the minister said.
Rane said that the Goa government would be notifying a committee comprising of State Health Secretary, Director of Health Services, Under Secretary Health, state surveillance officer Dr Utkarsha Betodkar and others which will be the authority to implement the guidelines, if at all issued by the centre on this virus.
