Valpoi Police Arrest Two Persons in Connection with Animal Cruelty

Bicholim: As per SDPO Bicholim Jivba Dalvi, the alert staff of Keri Checkpost intercepted a pickup vehicle for suspicious transportation of pigs.

A complaint was lodged against the accused persons:
1) Mr. Jeevan, son of Balappa Shipri, residing at 13, Ashraya Colony, Rukmini Nagar, Belgaum, Karnataka, and
2) Mr. Sagar M. Jadhav, residing at Dhanu Nagar, Dharwad, Karnataka. They were found transporting 23 pigs in a Bolero Pickup with registration number KA 22 AA 6148 and 30 pigs in a TATA rickshaw with registration number KA 25 AC 1319. The pigs were confined in the vehicles in unhygienic conditions, without proper documents from competent authorities, thereby subjecting all 53 pigs to cruelty.

An FIR under Section 325 of BNS, Sections 11(1)(a), 11(1)(e), 11(1)(d), 11(1)(h), and 11(1)(k) of the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Act, and Sections 96, 97, and 98 of the Transport of Animal Rules, 2001, was registered, and an investigation was initiated.

During the investigation, both vehicles were seized under panchanama.

The staff, including constables Gauresh Naik, Prashant Sutar, and Rajat Rane, were instrumental in the interception.

Further investigation is ongoing, with ASI Laxman K. Parab of Valpoi Police Station, under the supervision of Jivba Dalvi, SDPO Bicholim, PI Videsh P. Shirodkar, and the overall supervision of Rahul Gupta IPS, Superintendent of Police (North) Porvorim.
