Panaji: Unable to afford smartphones and internet facilities three students from Sattari’s remote Harijanwada-Malpan village have been deprived of their SSC online classes. Considering the plight of these students, Health Minister Vishwajit Rane on Friday stated that he will be arranging for smartphones for these kids.
It was earlier reported that a group of journalists from Sattari had come out in support of these underprivileged children and sought funds to help them with smartphones and internet facilities.
Sharing a cutting of a daily, Rane took to social media stating that, “We are always here to serve the people of shikari standing by them in the face of any obstacle. Always working towards a progress discovery.”
“To support this kids, I shall be organising smartphone for them to ensure the are not deprived of online education,” he stated.
Several students had been deprived of online education due to the lack of amenities available considering their financial status.
“We have great interest in addition but we don’t know how we can attend online classes in absence of mobile phones and internet access,” Nikita Parwar, a student from the village was quoted saying.
With no work for many adults, families at Harijanwada-Malpan have been struggling to survive amid the coronavirus pandemic.
However, local panch member Santosh Gaonkar managed to provide some facilities to these families.
The Sattari Patrakar Sangh (SPS) have reached out to the people to seek help for these underprivileged students who are unable to afford smartphones and internet facilities and thus have to compromise their education.
