Two Gujarat natives arrested with charas worth Rs 2 lakh in Goa

Panaji: Two persons from Gujarat have been arrested by the Goa Crime Branch in connection with a narcotics raid in North Goa, with charas worth Rs 2 lakh seized from their possession, police said on Sunday.

The raid was conducted on April 18 near Bosio Hospital at Pinto Wado in Candolim village of Bardez taluka, following specific inputs received by the Crime Branch, an official said.

The accused have been identified as Hiren Ramoliya (32), a resident of Navagam in Surat district, and Shabbirbhai Saiyad (40), a resident of Sihor in Bhavnagar district of Gujarat.

The police team caught the duo red-handed and recovered 630 grams of charas valued at approximately Rs 2 lakh, along with two mobile phones from their possession.

An offence has been registered against the accused under Sections 20(b)(ii)(B) and 29 of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act, 1985, the official said.

Further investigation in the case is underway, police added.
