Tourism Minister Rohan Khaunte holds meeting over monsoon preparedness

Porvorim: Goa government is all set to tackle the incidents that are faced by the coastal state during monsoons, including the instances of floodings.

State Tourism Minister Rohan Khaunte on Monday held meeting of the officials from different departments to ensure coordination in case of any incidents during the monsoon.

The monsoon is expected to arrive in Goa in the first week of June.

Khaunte told reporters that he has instructed all the departments to be prepared for any kind of eventualities during the rains. He said that all the departments including Public Works Department, Water Resources Department, Panchayat and others have been asked to remain on guard during the monsoon.

He said that the PWD has been instructed to clear all the roadside gutters so that the water does not overflow on the roads during excessive rains. Khaunte said that all the departments have also been asked to keep their manpower ready round the clock.
