Panaji: BJP is banking on its past achievements, specially executed during the tenure of Manohar Parrikar, to get its candidate Siddharth Kunkolienkar re-elected this time in upcoming Panaji by-election.
In the manifesto that was released today by BJP in presence of Chief Minister Pramod Sawant, Goa Unit President Vinay Tendulkar and others, the party has listed out its achievements, during last 25 years.
“The city was a den of gang-wars. The last gang-war was reported in Panaji city in the year 1995. Parrikar did not only brought end to lawlessness but also gave employment opportunities to the youth,” Kunkolienkar said talking to reporters.
He said that the Panaji city has undergone a sea change in last 25 years from a place which was prone to flooding, landslides, lawlessness and other issues. The former MLA said that retaining walls were built to arrest landslides while city was well connected with the bridges, beautified with gardens and parks and also Mandovi Prominade was built up to get the view of the river.
He said that the city was decongested by shifting six schools to dedicated educational complex at Cujira, and also around 40-45 buses were provided to transport students to the school from their homes.
The four lane road providing exit to the city through Dona Paula-Bambolim was also constructed during tenure of Parrikar, while 20 MVA sub station has been set up at Patto to satisfy the electricity requirement of the constituency.
He said that the party will continue its pace of development, while the project like Smart City will completely change the face of the capital city. Kunkolienkar said it would take five years for Smart City project to be completed and pre-mature statements against it is not going to help the citizens.
He said that the phase three of Panaji market will also be completed while city will have complete overhauling of its sewerage line, which needs urgent repair.
