Panaji : One Shigmo in each district, hence it was decided that in North and South Goa would have Shigmo but after a request from Antonasio (Babush) Monseratte, Panjim MLA CM Sawant intervened and assured that a Shigmo parade would be held in Panaji too.
The Shigmo Festival in Goa is a colour festival celebrated in the month of “Falgun” as per Saka Calendar. During this festival period famous temple “Yatras” are held.
Further, budget for Shigmo in all three cities has been already decided.
“Government will spend around Rs 54 lakh on prize money and infrastructure. In Ponda, the government will spend around Rs 17 lakh, Panaji Rs 21 lakh and Mapusa Rs 17 lakh,” Tourism Minister Babu Ajgaonkar informed.
