Panaji: Reacting to the show of strength by the opposition parties on the eve of Diwali when Demon Narakasur’s effigy is burnt, Chief Minister Pramod Sawant said he hopes the Opposition parties are not considering themselves as Gods.
The opposition parties, including the Congress, Goa Forward Party (GFP), and Revolutionary Goans Party (RGP), had hinted at coming together for the 2027 Goa elections to defeat the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP).
The show of strength took place during an event hosted by GFP President Vijai Sardesai at Fatorda, where the opposition leaders appealed to people to slay Narakasur in the state for a brighter future.
Reacting to the statement, the Chief Minister on Tuesday remarked, ask them (the opposition parties) who are Narakasur and who are Gods.
If they think that we are Narakasur and they are God, then they are under a wrong impression, he said.
Sawant added that the BJP has done enough for Goa and that ultimately, the people will decide who the real Narakasurs are.
