Velim, October 19: In a major boost to grassroots healthcare, Velim MLA Cruz Silva inaugurated the Sub Health Centre at Baida on Sunday, calling it a crucial step in bringing quality medical care closer to the people.
Silva emphasized that the new facility would ease the burden on the South Goa District Hospital by offering essential services locally. This centre reflects our commitment to accessible, dignified healthcare for every resident, he said.
The inauguration was conducted by Dr. Arsy Rebello (MBBS, DGO) and attended by health officials, local panchayat members, and community leaders.
To mark the occasion, a free health camp was held at the venue, offering blood tests, breast cancer screening, eye check-ups, vision testing, and the distribution of free spectacles. The initiative focused on preventive care and early detection of common health issues.
Organizers highlighted the importance of such camps in spreading awareness about routine check-ups and proactive health management. The event drew strong public participation, underscoring the growing demand for community-based healthcare solutions.
