Panaji: Goa chief minister Pramod Sawant on Friday held meeting of his cabinet resolving to dissolve the House on Monday.
BJP has won on majority seats during the recently held election and will stake claim to form the next government.
State Health Minister Vishwajit Rane told reporters that the meeting chaired by chief minister Sawant resolved to dissolve the House on Monday.
“We met to thank the people for resounding victory of the party. The resolution was moved to thank the people during the meeting,” Rane said.
State Revenue Minister Jeniffer Monserratte, talking to reporters, after the meeting said that the cabinet will also be dissolved inMonday.
BJP is yet to stake claim to form the next government, though it enjoys support of 25 MLAs in 40 seater Assembly.
The party has won on 20 seats while three Independents and MGP with its two MLAs have extended the support to form the next government.
Sawant had said last evening that the MGP has extended unconditional support to the government.
The central observers of the party are expected to arrive in Goa on Friday after which the new legislature wing will meet to decide its leader.
Party’s Goa election incharge Devendra Fadanavis told reporters last evening that the decision on leadership and timing of swearing in of new cabinet will be a prerogative of Parliamentary committee.
