Panaji: In a kind of an achievement, the Saligao constituency, ruled by Goa Forward Party (GFP), is selected under the National Rurban Scheme by the Union Ministry of Rural Development with a vision to create well planned Rurban clusters.
Local MLA and Minister Jayesh Salgaonkar took on social media to announce the achievement.
“Our Saligao constituency is been selected under National Rurban Scheme to stimulate local economic development, enhance basic services and create well planned rurban clusters,” Salgaonkar tweeted.
Minister said that under the scheme, constituency will get Rs 30 crore initial funding. “We have forts, boating facilities, springs, khazan lands, heritage houses, which can be developed and maintained under the scheme,” he said.
National Rurban Mission (NRuM) follows the vision of “Development of a cluster of villages that preserve and nurture the essence of rural community life with focus on equity and inclusiveness without compromising with the facilities perceived to be essentially urban in nature, thus creating a cluster of “Rurban Villages”.
