Rural Goa faces COVID-19 impact, next containment zone at Ghodemal, worries over Chimbel outbreak

Panaji: Goa on Friday detected 69 new cases of COVID-19 with the state government instructing North Goa district collector to declare one of the ward in Sattari taluka as containment zone.

State health officials said that 69 new cases of COVID-19 infection was reported on Friday, taking the tally of total number of confirmed cases to 463.

He said that 69 have recovered while 394 people are having active COVID-19 infection.

Goa Health Minister Vishwajit Rane on Friday said that the government has instructed District Collector to declare Ghodemal ward of Morlem village in North Goa’s Sattari taluka as containment zone after 14 cases were detected there.

This would be the second containment zone, the first being, Mangor Hill at Vasco which has reported 217 cases in addition to 117 more cases which are related to this containment zone.
