Panaji: Reacting to the reported statement of senior Congress Leader Pratapsingh Rane pitching for Shripad Naik, GPCC Chief Girish Chodankar said that “Rane might have supported Shripad as he knows the current MP is a weak candidate.”

“Mr Rane is a most senior and intelligent leader of Congress who had been Chief Minister for long time. He understands the pulse of the Goan voters very well,” Chodankar said.

“Knowing Shripad Naik is a very weak candidate, Congress leader Rane might have supported him,” he said.

“Mr Rane is encouraging BJP to renominate Naik so that it becomes easier for Congress to win North Goa seat,” he said.

“Naik is MP since last twenty years and first time voters were born after he was elected but never seen him doing anything,” Chodankar added.

Rane while speaking in a function at Valpoi had supported Naik, raising eyebrows in political circle.
