Panaji, 30th Oct 2025: The Goa Forward Party strongly condemns the shocking custodial assault incident involving a young man from Navelim, who is currently fighting for his life at GMC. A delegation of GFP leaders, including Dr. Renuka Deniss Da Silva, Vice President, Adv. Ashma, Vice President, and General Secretary (Org) Durgadas Kamat, visited the patient and met with his family earlier today.

Speaking to the media, Renuka Deniss Da Silva stated, “We visited the victim in the ICU and were distressed to see his condition. He has suffered a serious head injury, with a blood clot that had to be surgically drained. He is currently on a ventilator. What is most frightening is that these injuries occurred while he was in police custody. We demand transparency and accountability. Simply suspending the PSI is not justice. The public deserves to know how such severe injuries were inflicted.”

Adv. Ashma, also addressing the press, said, “The family feels helpless in front of those who were supposed to protect them — the Chief Minister, Home Minister, and the Police. When power is misused, it turns Rakshaks into Bhakshaks. These are not minor injuries; this amounts to attempted murder. The PSI must be booked under Section 307 and terminated immediately, not just suspended. This is a complete failure of law and order. We demand a serious, independent inquiry.”

Durgadas Kamat further added, “We met the family and saw the extent of the injuries. The SP claims the victim ‘fell’. If he fell, how did he sustain a deep head gash? These are not accidents; these are controlled blows. We are witnessing gundagiri in uniform. Police must be protectors, not predators. We demand strict and immediate action against all those involved.”

The Goa Forward Party reiterates that the police force is meant to safeguard citizens, not harm them. GFP will continue to monitor the situation and ensure justice is delivered without delay and without compromise.
