Panandikar said that the statements made in the media report are “not acceptable”. She said that the teaching fraternity has been regularly assessed for teaching process and is well trained in their particular field.

Dr  Mariappan said that the number of seats in the engineering colleges go vacant because of dwindling number of students taking maths as a subject in their Higher Secondary schools.

He pointed out that last year there 1658 seats which were put out across all the colleges but only 1524 were eligible indicating 20 per cent drop in students opting for Maths in HSSC.

Mariappan said that there are 10-15 per cent seats which are vacant but are later filled in the second year by the Diploma students.

Goa Technology Association’s Founder President Manguirish Salelkar said that the statement in media should be made responsibly. He said that the industry is extremely happy with the students that pass out from these colleges. He said that 95 per cent of them get placement in various industries.

Salelkar demanded that the person who is quoted by the newspaper should tender apology for insulting the institutions.
