Panaji: Chief minister Pramod Sawant on Wednesday said that he would be meeting Archbishop of Goa and Daman Filipe Neri Ferrao within next two days.
Sawant told reporters that he would be meeting the Archbishop either tomorrow or day after (Thursday or Friday) depending on the appointment given by him (Archbishop).
When asked whether his meeting is with regards to the Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA), the chief minister refuse to comment.
“I am going to meet him, that what it is,” he said.
Goa Archbishop had recently issued a press note opposing CAA. The religious leader had said that the centre should “unconditionally” and “immediately” revoke the CAA.
Archbishop’s statement had met with strong objection by BJP. Party’s state general secretary Narendra Sawaikar had termed the statement as divisive.
