Police complaint filed in Labour Fund misappropriate case

Panaji: Social activists Kashinath Shetye, Inacio Pereira and Others on Monday filed police complaint in connection with illegal registration of the Building and Other Construction Workers and misappropriation of the funds by forging the documents.

The complaint is filed with Panaji police.

Social activists Kashinath Shetye, Inacio Pereira, John Nazareth, Mukundraj Mudras, Desmond Alvares, Narendra Chodankar, Arthuro D’Souza and Ramchandra Manjrekar has filed the complaint.

The complaint is against illegal registration of the Building and Other Construction Workers and misappropriation of BOCW Welfare Fund by forging documents showing to be BOCW in COVID-19 lockdown by cheating the labour department by ex-Sarpanch Mohini Tari and others with false self declaration that they are building and other construction workers to government officer.

The complainants have said that many beneficiaries have illegally registered as Building and Other Construction Workers when actually they are not. It has been revealed to some of beneficiaries like Ex-Sarpanch Mohini Tari and others who hae admitted that they are not Building and Other construction workers.

The complainant has given a list of 15491 BOCW out of which many are not the workers and has taken benefit by cheating, forging and with false declarations that they are BOCW.

They have not even produced mandatory certificate from contractor or builder that they have worked for minimum of 90 days in the year 2019-2020.

The agency which has been given work of registering BOCW has to  be investigated as to why verification was done and how money was sent in wrong accounts and how some money bounced back as wrong account number, the complaint reads.
