Panaji: Congress’ Goa Chief Girish Chodankar alleged that Prime Minister Narendra Modi and BJP President Amit Shah was fooling people on Mahadayi issue to win the elections in Karnataka.
Chodankar said that the assurances to have out-of-court settlement between the states for Mahadayi water dispute is to confuse the voters.
“I urge them to make categorical statement within 72 hours and don’t wait till elections of Karnataka are over if they are serious on this issue,” Chodankar said.
“BJP’s national leaders are making ridiculous statements on the eve of election is just to confuse the voters. This is absolutely foolish statement not befitting the prime minister. He has to maintain his stature about the nation at large. He has denied the justice to both the states,” Chodankar said.
“This is nothing but continuation of destroying premier institution of the country. We have to know that the tribunal is hearing the case. One cannot belittle the importance of tribunal,” he said.
“The tribunal has been formed as per the constitution. Both the states have right to represent themselves. This statement is to win the Karnataka election at the cost of constitution of india. This is not expected from the prime minister of india,” he said.
