Santa Cruz: The initiative to officially recognise the presence of Dr. Shyama Prasad Mukherjee Stadium and the Athletic Stadium within the jurisdiction of the Santa Cruz panchayat has earned praise from AAP Goa President Amit Palekar.
On Thursday, Palekar posted on his X handle:
“Congratulations to Mr. Inacio Pereira and others for getting our land and pride back for our village of St. Cruz, as now authorities have confirmed that Dr. Shyama Prasad Mukherjee Stadium and Athletics Stadium fall within the jurisdiction of St. Cruz. Now it’s time for us to reclaim — for the Village Panchayat of Merces — our usurped land from the Corporation of the City of Panaji and EDC in the entire Patto area. The land, as per land records, belongs to Merces Village or Morombi-O-Pequeno and should come under VP Merces, which has all rights over all taxes collected.”
“We @AAPGoa urge @BJP4Goa Government led by CM @DrPramodPSawant to immediately take steps in that regard.”
