Fatorda: Police have arrested a husband for beating his wife to death in Fatorda town in South Goa, objecting to her habit of regularly consuming alcohol.
Fatorda Police Station on Thursday arrested Krishna Roy, originally from Kolkata (West Bengal), for beating his wife to death at their current residence in the Mungul locality.
A police spokesperson said that on April 30 around 8:30 PM, the accused brutally beat his wife with a wooden stick and belt, thereby causing her death over the issue of her regularly consuming alcohol.
The postmortem conducted on the deceased has certified the cause of death as “Head injury consequent to blunt force impact in a person with multiple injuries all over the body caused by a blunt weapon.”
Police said that all injuries were fresh at the time of death.
Viscera was preserved for chemical analysis. Materials were preserved for serology examination. Blood-stained gauze was preserved for DNA profiling. Blood was preserved for grouping. The dead body was handed over to the family for final rites. Further investigation is being carried out by PI Nathan de Almeida of Fatorda Police Station.
