Panaji: A 20-year-old student died by hanging inside his hostel room on BITS Pilani’s Goa campus premises on Thursday, marking the third suicide on the campus in the last five months.
Verna police on Friday confirmed that 20-year-old Krishna Kasera, originally from Lucknow (Uttar Pradesh), was found hanging inside his hostel room on Thursday at 10:15 AM.
“The 20-year-old student was pursuing a dual-degree program, and exams were currently underway at the college,” said a senior police officer.
Police have registered a case of unnatural death in connection with the incident.
This is the third case of a student committing suicide at BITS Pilani’s Goa campus.
On March 4, 2025, a 20-year-old student was found hanging inside his hostel room. Similarly, another case of suicide inside a hostel room was reported on December 10, 2024.
Attempts to reach out to the management of BITS Pilani for their reaction fetched no results.
