Panaji : National Students Union of India (NSUI) Goa Unit has celebrated its foundation day, the organisation has completed 50 years in students activism. The celebrations were held at Congress House Panaji. Ahraz Mulla NSUI State President, Naushad Chowdhari President North Goa, Prasanjeet Dhage General Secretary, Alvaro Ferrao and members of NSUI were present for the programme.
The foundation day was celebrated by hoisting the NSUI flag and honouring and paying respect to Indira Gandhi, the late Prime Minister of India.
Ahraz Mulla on the occasion spoke about the history of NSUI “NSUI was formed by late Prime Minister Indira Gandhi on 9 April 1971, when she observed that students’ activism was growing across the country. She wanted to encourage students to be future leaders” said Mulla.
Naushad Chowdhari informed that NSUI was the largest students’ democratic and secular organisation which had its branches across India. “Whenever a student in Goa faces a problem related to educational field they always call us because they have faith in NSUI that we will redress their issues” added Naushad.
