Panaji: Chief Minister Pramod Sawant on Saturday said that a magisterial inquiry will be instituted to thoroughly investigate the incident at the Shree Lairai temple festival at Shirgao village, which witnessed a stampede, killing six on the spot.
Sawant visited state-run hospitals on Saturday morning after the incident and later assessed the situation by visiting the site.
The Chief Minister, in a message posted on his X handle on Saturday afternoon, said, “A magisterial inquiry will be instituted to thoroughly investigate the incident at the Shirgao Jatra.”
“I will shortly be chairing a high-level meeting to review the entire situation and ensure appropriate action is taken,” he added.
