Panaji: National Students Union of India (NSUI) on Sunday demanded that the state government should cancel the physical classes in schools and college till COVID-19 situation is under control.

NSUI North District President Naushad Chowdhari, in a media statement released here, said that the students should not be put to the risk by State government under such a pandemic situation.

“ NSUI Goa demands to shut down physical classes in schools and colleges until the Covid-19 situation across state is under control,” he said.

Chowdhari said that Goa has reported 154 new COVID-19 cases on Saturday, which is highest since December.

“Across India, the second wave of COVID-19 is seen  where India records 43,000 new cases and more than 25,000 cases daily in past five days. This is alarming enough to the Chief Minister of Goa Dr Pramod Sawant to take this situation with utmost seriousness and act accordingly by taking necessary precautions,” he said.

“All the physical classes for students of classes of 9-12, UG/ PG final year students and Engineering students should be conducted through online mode only looking at the current situation since students sharing of common classroom can become the reason of getting infected and spreading the virus,” he added.
