Panaji: BJP will recommend to its high command to give tickets to the sitting MPs and MLAs during upcoming Lok Sabha and Assembly by-elections. But the party is yet to take call on its Mapusa seat.
Shripad Naik will contest from North Goa Seat while Narendra Sawaikar will be from South. Both the MPs are already campaigning in their constituencies, taking the early bird advantage.
BJP is in no mood to change their candidates in Lok Sabha constituencies, similarly, the party will also give ticket to Subhash Shirodkar at Shiroda and Dayanand Sopte at Mandrem.
The crucial decision for the party would be about Mapusa constituency where Joshua son of former minister Francis D’Souza, close of aid of CM Manohar Parrikar, Rupesh Kamat and renowned figure Sudhir Kandolkar are in the fray.
Joshua has already hit the ground and was seen campaigning in the constituency. Kamat is currently attached to CMO.
Joshua had claimed that he should ideally get ticket as he has been working with his father in the constituency, whose tenure was cut short due to his death.
BJP will have tough time to select candidate for Mapusa even as Kamat has been getting support from within the party organization.
