No Laxity at Shirgao Jatra; Strict Action Against Troublemakers, Says CM Pramod Sawant

Chief Minister Pramod Sawant has issued a clear directive that no negligence will be tolerated during the upcoming jatra of Shree Devi Lairai at Shirgao. He instructed officials to take strict action against unruly devotees as well as dhondgans if they create disturbances.

The Chief Minister made these remarks during a surprise visit to review a mock drill conducted to assess administrative preparedness for the festival. Addressing officials, he stressed that while working together to ensure the smooth conduct of the jatra, authorities must not hesitate to remove and act against anyone indulging in mischief, chaos, or fights. He said maintaining order is the responsibility of both the police and administrative machinery, and no one should step back from this duty.

Referring to last year’s unfortunate incident and the extensive preparations undertaken over the past several months, Chief Minister Pramod Sawant said there is a collective expectation that the festival should conclude smoothly and safely without any disruptions.

Highlighting the large-scale arrangements, Chief Minister Pramod Sawant said officials have been working tirelessly and multiple plans have been put in place.

He directed that all departments, police, health department, fire services, deputy collector’s office, public works department, and all other concerned agencies must work together responsibly to ensure the successful conduct of the festival.

Chief Minister Pramod Sawant also reviewed preparations made by the police, traffic police, district administration, health officials, and fire services. He reiterated that no laxity by any official will be tolerated and urged all to remain vigilant to prevent any untoward incidents, ensuring the jatra concludes peacefully without disputes or disturbances.
