Panaji: The 12-day long monsoon session of the State Legislative Assembly, beginning from tomorrow is likely to be stormy, with opposition gearing up to corner BJP-led coalition government on the issues like formalin in fish, draft coastal zone management plan, mining, Regional Plan 2021 and outline development plan (ODP).
After a curtailed Budget session due to sudden illness of Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar, opposition were expecting the monsoon session to be little longer; however, Speaker restricted it to 12 days while increasing the sitting hours.
As many as 1868 questions would be tabled during the session that includes 1134 unstarred questions and 734 star questions. Seven to eight Government bills will be introduced like amendment to the Town and Country Planning Act, Health, Goa Lokayukta Act, Environmental laws, Municipality Act, etc.
It is most likely that Chief Minister will spell out some policies, schemes and other programmes under various departments, which he failed to do while tabling the Budget 2018-19. A detail discussion and passing of Budget will take place on July 19 and 20. From July 23, discussion of Demand for Grants will begin.
In the absence of Power Minister Pandurang Madkaikar, who is undergoing treatment in a hospital in Mumbai, Chief Minister will reply to his departments which also include Social Welfare.
Ailing PWD Minister Sudin Dhavalikar is expected to attend the session.
