MMC gets in action to keep SGPDA market clean

Margao: The team of Margao Municipal Council officials led by Chief Officer Siddhivinayak Naik on Thursday held inspection of South Goa Planning and Development Authority’s market at Fatorda.

The officials from SGPDA were also present during the inspection of the market.

Both the teams conducted joint inspection of SGPDA wholesale fish market and meat market at Fatorda to review the cleanliness.

Naik after going through the market immediately directed MMC Sanitary Cell to open the choked drains and remove the filthy water using night soil tankers and clear the garbage which is accumulated.

MMC’s action comes at the backdrop of Public Interest Litigation before Bombay High Court at Goa which came up for hearing on Thursday.

Naik while ordering massive cleaning up drive has asked SGPDA to deposite Rs one lakh towards the drive which will be taken up from today.

The Chief Officer also expressed concern over the condition of the markets and warned officials of strong action.
