Panaji: State Waste Management Minister Michael Lobo on Monday admitted that rave parties are happening in the private villas in the coastal belt of the state.

Lobo also said that the state government is serious about curbing the drug trade due to which the police raids are conducted cracking down such parties.

The minister, who represents coastal Calangute constituency in State Legislative Assembly, was responding to Crime Branch’s raid on a rave party which was hosted by actor Kapil Jhaveri at Vagator on August 15 night.

Lobo said that the parties, in the name of birthday celebration or any event, are held where drugs are consumed.

He said that the state government would have review of the Police Inspectors posted in the coastal belt, so as to ensure that proper action is taken against the drug paddlers, and party organizers.

Goa Forward Party MLA Vinod Palyekar on Monday had alleged largescale drug parties happening in the coastal belt.

Lobo said that he partially agrees with Palyekar that the parties are happening. The minister said that he would be personally talking to Palyekar to get the information that he has about these parties.

“There are guest houses, resorts which are shut for general public but there are parties which are organised in the name of birthday party or some other function. The function is used for name sake,” he said.
