Panaji: The speculated deadline of April 4 for a cabinet reshuffle has passed without any changes introduced by Chief Minister Dr. Pramod Sawant.

Sources close to the BJP told GNH that a decision on the cabinet reshuffle is expected later this month, following the CM’s proposed visit to the national capital.

It is learned that the reshuffle is being considered from both political and strategic perspectives to ensure that the BJP gains an advantage after the changes in the cabinet.

After the recently concluded Assembly session, speculation was rife that the reshuffle would happen soon. Speaker Ramesh Tawadkar’s statements before the session had further fueled these rumors.

Tawadkar had stated that changes would take place soon. He had also submitted a list of “arrogant ministers” to the chief minister. This led to speculation that Tawadkar himself might be inducted into the cabinet.

While various lists have been discussed in political circles regarding potential inductions, recent developments suggest that instead of Michael Lobo, Delilah Lobo may be considered for a cabinet position. However, it remains unclear who would be dropped to make way for her.

Additionally, names such as Digambar Kamat and Sankalp Amonkar are also being discussed for potential cabinet inductions.

It is likely that this will be the first and last cabinet reshuffle under the Sawant-led government as the party prepares for the 2027 Goa Assembly elections.

Furthermore, the upcoming Zilla Panchayat and municipal council elections are expected to be a crucial test for the ruling party.
